Yes, I can see!
Last Sat was another nerve wrecking experience. Not sure how many will be able to understand. Many will probably think I'm being exaggerated by putting it this way. But I was really a pack of nerves the whole morning.
Hb and I arrive at the hospital at 10:40am, I need to register to see the gynae, when I was filling in my particulars and answering the nurse's questions, tears was already swelling up in my eyes. The whole environment just reminds me too much of my bad experience. I know I shouldn’t feel so, but I just can’t help it.
After registration I just sat there and sob on Hb’s shoulder. Quite embarrassing for him, but again, I’m not in control of my emotions.
And then the nurse called out my name. Much sooner than I expected, so I frantically wiped away the tears with my hands.
The moment Dr TT saw me, his first words were: “Pregnant ah? So fast!” Well, I saw him in Dec and that’s when he’s urging me to start trying again and I told him I’ll think about it. Never did he expect to see me so soon. I was still absorbed by fear and anxiety, so I did not really hear him or reacted. Hb managed a smile and a “Yes.”
Then I think I started answering qns from Dr TT. And he realise Hb’s job and they started chatting and found that they had a common friend, blah blah blah. I was really in no mood for them to chat. Give me my scan, quick!
As I lay on the bed waiting for the scan, I can feel my heart in my throat. Dr TT prefers the less invasive method so he gave me a tummy scan. As I stared at the monitor, I see no sign of what I’m looking for. My hands start to shake. My heart sank. Then Dr TT decided to do the v-scan. This time, I finally see it! Yes, the firm and quick beating of life. For once in many weeks I’m assured. Although I always know you’re there, I just need to see for myself. Everyday, you send strong signals to tell me you’re here; all the morning sickness and fatigue are definite signs of your presence. I know it’s still early, and I should try to contain my joy. But I’m really glad. So see you again in 2 weeks.
